Mack Says No Again to Washington Budget Gimmicks

Statement

Date: June 29, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Connie Mack (FL-14) issued the following statement regarding the budget gimmickry in the surface transportation package considered by Congress today:

"More spending, more taxing, budget gimmicks and other unrelated issues prevented me from supporting the bloated transportation bill passed today by the House.

"Though the legislation contained some good provisions, such as the RESTORE Act and an extension of the current student loan interest rates, the bad far outweighed the good.

"It's frustrating that Washington just won't learn from all of our past mistakes. Business as usual won't restore America's economic prosperity and it won't give the public the confidence they deserve in their leaders."
